Cherish the past. Live in the moment.

Growing good things.

Standing in your garden, whether it's on a tiny urban balcony or a huge country field, you can sense that good things are about to come. Planting the seeds that will grow into beautiful, productive plants makes you feel the hope and promise that tomorrow will bring.  That's how we feel about our Society.  With our magazine in the works, a TV pilot filmed, and our membership swelling, we are thrilled with the success of our Society's launch. Come join us... we're on our way!

We're glad you stopped by!

We're a new kind of preservation association.  We know that just because you love historic homes doesn't mean you live in the past. You want information that's approachable and relevant to how you live your life.

The Society for Historic American Homes is here to help you live a modern life in your historic home. We provide the knowledge you need to be a good steward to the treasures of America's past through connections with renowned preservationists and experts who can help you care for your historic home.

But we are also so much more. We are a community of passionate people who believe that every home built before 1945 is a treasure, whether it's a farmhouse, adobe, log cabin, or colonial mansion. Most significantly, we believe the most important person to help save these homes is you. You, the homeowner.

We believe that with your help, we can save, restore, and maintain the history that shaped this great country. And because your life now a part of your home's history, we help you find ways to balance the past and the present. Join with us.  We believe in you.
